Patsy Kensit has said that she is proud of her roles in Emmerdale and Holby City.

The actress, 41, claimed that people were initially snooty about her quitting films for TV, but insisted that the move had been a success.

"I was doing all these things that were going straight to DVD which was a bit soul destroying," she told The Mirror. "When I got Emmerdale, people were sneering about me doing it, but six million people watch that show.

"And now I'm on one of the BBC's most successful dramas."

She continued: "I think back to how things have been and how things are, and it's a wonderful thing that my life and career have turned out as they have.

"I'm so grateful. Because, really, this all might not have happened. Life could have turned out so differently."

Kensit, who has been wed four times, is currently playing ward sister Faye Morton in Holby City. She played Sadie King in Emmerdale between 2004 and 2006.
