The latest episode of Holby saw Michael's exit storyline as he was forced to take a break from the hospital.

After being faced with a heartbreaking case involving a teenage boy, Michael found himself in hot water with new CEO Guy Self (John Michie) for breaking strict rules on organ transplants.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Dhillon commented: "I have had a wonderful time at Holby during the past six years - thank you to all the viewers for their great interest and support!"

Holby City's executive producer Oliver Kent added: "Whilst we're sad to see Hari go, it is only right that we support his wish to explore other projects. We wish him the best of luck and we look forward to his return."

Holby City airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
