Elliot’s daughter, Martha, tricks Joseph into coming to look at Gina at home, as the medical drama continues.
Gina’s condition – motor neurone disease – is worsening but both she and Elliot have so far managed to keep it a secret from Marsha.
When Gina deteriorates rapidly and needs an emergency procedure, she is adamant that she does not want the treatment.
However, against her wishes, Elliot manages to perform the operation in secret at the hospital.At home, when Gina comes round, Elliot tells her he is sorry but he couldn’t let her go.
Meanwhile, Sam is looking after a young boy who has been adopted.Working with him awakens a passion for paediatrics in Sam and it soon becomes clear that there is a secret in his past.

This was a very good episode. Ending very dramatically with poor Joseph washing his hands and as he felt guilty with perofrming the operation in secret. I really enjoyed it.

One of the best episodes, really enjoyed the interaction between the actors, especially the interaction between Joseph and Martha, (a good potential there, hope to see these two together more in future). Was touched by Elliots love of his wife and willing to sacrifice all for her, and Joseph's torment at the end was heartfelt.
