'Abracadabra'

Diane walks into Ric’s office and is shocked to see Abra (real name Percy played by Adrian Edmondson) in there. He says that Ric is away for a few weeks and he has asked Abra to cover. This means that Abra will be supervising her. When Diane asks when Abra is going back to Africa, he admits he is not going back. He broke the heart of the Chief of Police’s daughter and so had to leave. He is now looking for a job back in England. Holby CEO Christopher Sutherland tells Abra that a locum position is coming up at the hospital shortly. Abra says he would be interested in applying for it. Later, Abra promises his patient Grace that he will operate on her today. Sutherland tells him that he can’t use the operating theatre due to procedures so Abra cannot do the op today. Abra argues with Sutherland but he says Abra must follow the rules. Abra tells Grace she cannot have the op but she is angry and he feels bad so he decides to go against the rules and do the op secretly. Without telling them he is doing it covertly, he manages to rope Reg and Donna into helping him. During the op Sutherland walks in and is furious. Abra informs him that Reg and Donna didn’t know it was a covert operation. Sutherland says Abra can forget applying for the locum position. Abra can stay until Ric is back and then Ric can deal with him.

Tricia is in a joyous mood and enjoys flirting with Mark. Mark too is ecstatic and wants to tell the world that they are back together but Tricia wants to keep it quiet for now. Chrissie quizzes Tricia as to why she is in such a good mood, but Tricia covers. Tricia asks Diane if she can bring her breast op forward – she wants to get it out of the way and get on with life. Diane agrees to look into it. Chrissie presses Tricia as to why she is so happy and Tricia reveals that she is back together with Mark. Chrissie is shocked. Tricia excitedly tells Mark that she is trying to bring her breast op forward. Whilst treating a young girl who is scared to have her CT scan, Tricia lies down and goes into the scan with her so she is not scared. When Tricia meets with Diane to discuss her op Diane breaks some terrible news to her. Diane says that Elliot spotted a mass on Tricia’s liver in the scan. It could be cancer. Tricia is devastated. Diane performs the biopsy on Tricia and promises to get her the result later today. Later, Diane breaks the awful news – she has liver cancer and will need to start Chemotherapy asap. Tricia is devastated and asks Diane not to tell anyone. Tricia goes to talk to Mark. Before she can say anything he says he loves her. Mark has arranged to borrow his friends motorbike and take her to the coast to that evening. Tricia is touched and doesn’t have the heart to tell him her news.

Mickie tells Donna she is applying for Med School again. She asks Nick for a reference for her application and he agrees to give her one. Mickie is looking after a man who Nick and Donna both think is faking his symptoms. Mickie finds blood in his urine and so knows he really is sick. Mickie then realises that his urine looks the same as Helena Bosman’s did – after Nick’s op but before Dian’s op. She realises this must mean that Nick cut the urethra not Diane. Mickie tells Donna she must tell someone but Donna tells her to keep quiet – don’t mess with Nick. Mickie tells Diane the news but she thinks it is too little too late and so is not interested. Mickie is unperturbed and tells Connie her realisation. Later, Connie asks to speak to Nick and Diane telling them the news. Nick guesses that it was Mickie. Diane is overjoyed thinking she will be exonerated but Connie says there is no official evidence and the board will not overturn their decision. Diane walks out, feeling frustrated and disillusioned. Nick goes to speak to Mickie. He reveals he knows that she is the whistle blower and says she has made a bad enemy. Diane gives Abra an envelope – she has applied for extended leave and she asks him to pass it on to Ric. Abra asks if he can make a pass at her as they are no longer colleagues. She smiles and says anytime…. Diane then bumps into Nick who tells her he is sorry. She doesn’t believe him and he admits he isn’t really.
