Santer: 'I didn't want Rob to leave'
EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer has revealed that he tried to dissuade Rob Kazinsky from leaving the BBC soap on more than one occasion.

Santer, who took the helm at the BBC's flagship soap in 2006, was reluctant to let the 25-year-old quit, due to his ever-improving performance as Albert Square's resident bad boy Sean Slater.

Speaking exclusively to DS, Santer said: "I didn't want Rob K to leave, and I did try more than once to make him change his mind. His work has got better and better, and Sean's become a very important character for the show."

He added: "But he's his own man and there are things he wants to do so of course he goes with my blessing and support."

Kazinsky's exit storyline sees him bow out of the soap over the festive season when his character 'goes off the rails'.
