Since turning up in Walford on August 18, Danielle Jones (Lauren Crace) has had one helluva bumpy ride. Armed with the secret that she's Ronnie Mitchell's (Samantha Janus) long-lost daughter, Danielle attempted to settle into Albert Square life with the hope of one day being reunited with her mother.
However, after months of less-then-warm treatment from Ronnie, Danielle sought to rely on her only good friend Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). But she soon fell off the rails and had a one-night stand with Paul (Jack Gordon) the barman. She later discovered that she was pregnant by him.
Deciding to have an abortion, Danielle turned to her unsuspecting mother for support through the difficult time. Unable to cope with her secret any longer, Danielle finally confessed her shocking identity to Stacey, before going ahead with her termination. Ultimately, Ronnie unknowingly attended the abortion of her own grandchild.
After months of missed opportunities, mountains of misunderstandings, plenty of fleeting glances across the market and a hoard of meddling by her granddad Archie (Larry Lamb), Danielle's secret was finally outed during Peggy (Barbara Windsor) and Archie's wedding reception. The happy-come-sombre day culminated in the shock death of Danielle when she was run over by Janine (Charlie Brooks) in front of a stunned Ronnie - only moments after accepting her as her estranged daughter for the first time.
