Tointon: 'I want happy ending for Dawn'

Kara Tointon has admitted that she does not want her EastEnders character to be killed off.

The actress has played Dawn Swann since joining the soap in 2005, while the role has seen her become pregnant, engaged and abducted.

Tointon told FHM that she would be pleased for her August exit to revolve around a happy resolution, which may give way for a possible return, The PA reports.

She said: "I'm hoping for a happy ending rather than being killed off. I like the idea of being able to come back at some point."

The 26-year-old explained that being on the show has been like working in a "cocoon", but is ready to see what other acting parts come her way.

She added: "I'm nervous, but also excited to do other things. I always planned to do two years at EastEnders, so to actually do four was great. It's time to move on, though. They haven't told me too much about what's going to happen."

It was recently reported that the star had landed a £100,000 lingerie deal.
