Partridge 'drawing on own experiences'

EastEnders actor John Partridge has admitted that he is basing some elements of his current storyline on his own personal experiences.

The openly gay 38-year-old, who plays Christian Clarke in the Walford soap, told DS on the red carpet at this year's TV Quick and TV Choice Awards: "I think it's always great if it's a storyline that you can relate to and you can draw from your own personal experience. For any actor, those are the sorts of storylines which you end up playing better because you've got some element of real life in there."

When quizzed as to whether anyone will discover their secret, he smiled: "I don't think anybody's going to find out about the affair right now because it's not something Christian wants to talk about. He just likes doing it!"

Staring at his co-star Marc Elliott - who played his clandestine gay lover Syed Masood - he jokingly added: "I think something will come out at the wedding, but I don't necessarily think it's going to be the truth!"
