POTD: Heather gives birth in 'EastEnders'

Published Tuesday, Oct 20 2009, 17:40 BST | By Kris Green
EastEnders' Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) finally gives birth to her baby during tonight's episode and she gets the shock of her life when she discovers that it's a boy - and not a girl as she had expected.

Patrick (Rudolph Walker), Pat (Pam St Clement) and Peggy (Barbara Windsor) transport Heather to the hospital in Shirley's (Linda Henry) ice cream van and while Pat and Peggy continue to argue about their respective families, Patrick's forced to go with Heather into the birthing room.

After a recital of Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go', Heather welcomes her son into the world - George Michael Trott.

Speaking of the birth scenes, Fergison told DS: "She takes quite good control, actually. She sees that Patrick's not really up to it and desperately wants to leave the room but Heather doesn't want him to go. She's a bit perturbed, though, because she doesn't have her birthing kit with her!"

She added: "There are some very funny moments where Heather starts reciting all the Wham CDs and chart positions to help her through. At one point, it gets really painful for her and Patrick starts singing 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' and I join in!"

One question remains unanswered, though: Who's The Daddy?

The identity of the unwitting father will be revealed during Friday evening's episode.

EastEnders airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
