Elliott: 'Tikaram slotted in perfectly'

Former This Life cast member Tikaram was first seen playing Amira Shah's (Preeya Kalidas) ruthless father Qadim on the Walford drama earlier this week. He was confirmed for the role in October.
Quadim arrived on Albert Square ahead of Amira's wedding to Elliott's character Syed Masood, who has been involved in a secret relationship with caterer Christian Clarke (John Partridge) for months.
Speaking to DS about working with Tikaram, Elliott revealed: "He's brilliant! I watched the whole of This Life and absolutely loved it. It was quite a seminal programme during my teen years.
"Preeya knows him from working on other projects before, so they were already comfortable working with each other. He slotted in perfectly, though. It's been great fun."
As well as playing This Life's Ferdy Garcia, Tikaram has appeared in BBC daytime drama Moving On and sci-fi hit Primeval.
