Simons calls for more Walford

EastEnders star Rita Simons has claimed that the BBC soap needs more male "fitties" in the cast.

In an interview with DS, the actress revealed that she would like to see her character Roxy Mitchell embark on a romance with a handsome new arrival.

Roxy's current relationship with Dr Al Jenkins, played by Adam Croasdell, ends in next week's episodes ahead of the character's departure.

Asked whether Roxy should set her sights on Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) next, Simons replied: "Well I would go there if the writers wanted it, expect Ronnie's been there and I think Roxy seriously has to steer clear of any men that her sister's been with. Although Ronnie's had every man on the Square - except Charlie Slater.

"There's a distinct lack of good looking men around Walford. We need some new fitties in!"
