'EastEnders' Moments: Janine, Barry and The Cliff

Published Tuesday, Feb 16 2010, 12:59 GMT | By Kris Green
Barry and Janine's wedding day was marred by murder on New Year's Day 2004, when she pushed her lover off the edge of a cliff in the Scottish highlands.

With Paul Trueman's help, Janine planned to fleece Barry of his cash and ultimately agreed to marry him, believing that he had a life-threatening heart condition.

The pair married on New Year's Eve when Paul put an end to his affair with Janine and when Barry confessed that his heart scare was a false alarm, she lashed out at him during a romantic walk, sending Barry tumbling down a cliff to his death.

Barry cracked his head on a rock at the bottom of the crevice and when Janine loomed over him, he begged for her help. Janine, however, simply sat back and watched him die.

As you can see from the pictures below, however, the plot might have worked out completely differently - Janine could have potentially died at the hands of Barry when he discovered her true motivation to marry him.
