'EastEnders' Moments: 'Who Killed Archie?'

Published Friday, Feb 19 2010, 15:00 GMT | By Kris Green
EastEnders' latest whodunnit reaches its gripping climax during the soap's first ever live episode this evening as we finally learn the answer to the one question that's been on everyone's lips since Christmas Day - Who Killed Archie?

Having made an endless list of enemies during his stay in Walford, Archie finally met his maker during the BBC soap's festive edition when one of his nemeses struck the fatal blow to his skull with The Vic centrepiece, the Queen Victoria's bust.

Speaking of the murder weapon, executive producer Diederick Santer told DS: "I thought that we needed something truly iconic that epitomises EastEnders, The Vic and the Mitchells. I just thought the Queen Vic bust would be the most brilliant murder weapon!"

Over the last eight weeks, DCI Marsden has endeavoured to piece together the mystery but with so many suspects still in the frame, she has effectively found herself back to square one.

Having learned that Bradley was present in The Vic on Christmas night during yesterday evening's episode, Marsden has a new prime suspect and the chase is on.

Bradley's uncle Jack, however, informs his nephew that he has no other choice but to flee Walford for good.

Is Marsden chasing the wrong suspect? Will Bradley confess to killing Archie during the live episode? Or will somebody else fess up to the crime?

EastEnders goes live tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
