Croasdell: 'Walford love plots were great'
Former EastEnders star Adam Croasdell has revealed that he loved being part of romantic storylines on the BBC soap.

The actor's alter ego Dr Al Jenkins, who was seen on screen for the final time last night, enjoyed attention from Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner) and Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin) during his nine-month stint on the programme.

Admitting that he was keen for his character to be successful with the ladies, Croasdell told BANG Showbiz: "Being referred to as a heartthrob is definitely strange. But I think the sort of bribe that I gave the writers on EastEnders - to set me up with all the girls in the show - was great. I'm definitely going to do that on every programme I'm on from now on!"

The star also joked that Walford matriarch Peggy Mitchell, played by 72-year-old Barbara Windsor, could have been a perfect partner for Al.

He said: "That would have been amazing. I mean that would have been a storyline that everyone would have talked about. But what a gal! Babs makes it worth going into work every day."

Croasdell's departure from EastEnders was confirmed last November and he is now looking forward to new projects.

He commented: "EastEnders was great, but I kind of felt like I didn't have too much to do in the show. I would like to do something that I can really get my teeth into."
