David Proud has vowed to stay in touch with his EastEnders screen mum Josie Lawrence.

The comedian, who has filmed her last scenes as teacher Manda Best, announced her departure from the BBC One soap in November after an "amazing year" on set.

Proud, who plays her son Adam, told the PA that he is already missing working with his screen mum. "I really miss her and wish she was still there but she's an amazing actress - but I think I'll always be in touch with her."

He added: "The things she's taught me have been amazing - watching her work and seeing how she approaches the scene and talking over different things."

The 26-year-old actor, who has spina bifida, joined EastEnders in September 2009 as the soap's first regular character with a visible disability.
