EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has revealed that he is feeling excited over the BBC soap's forthcoming live episode.

The actor, who plays long-standing character Ian Beale on the show, joked that he and Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) have already come up with ways to cope if the 25th anniversary broadcast goes wrong.

Speaking in an interview with The Mirror, Woodyatt explained: "I can't wait for it. I want to see the director's face when I leave a huge pause between lines. It'll be bleedin' hysterical.

"Parts of the set are falling to pieces because it's been standing for 25 years. I think it was only ever designed to last for 15. But it's been patched up in time for next week."

He quipped: "We've all got our little strategies in case it goes wrong. I'm going upstairs to check on Bobby. Steve Mac is going to say, 'I've had enough of this' and just walk out."

The special instalment, which airs on February 19, will see the much-anticipated reveal of Archie Mitchell's killer following the programme's murder mystery storyline. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
