Diederick Santer
The BBC soap tonight marked its 25th anniversary by broadcasting its first ever live instalment direct from the show's home at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The special edition featured the death of Walford favourite Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) and the shocking revelation that his wife Stacey was the killer of Archie Mitchell.
Discussing how the team fared on EastEnders Live: The Aftermath, Santer commented: "I'm so happy, I'm so relieved, I'm so proud. I just think everyone did brilliantly tonight - the cast, the crew, everyone. It's everything I wished for and more. I'm thrilled with how it went. It was quite remarkable."
He added: "Everything went to plan. I spotted a couple of little wobbles but what I was proudest of was the recovery. The technical crew, the cast - every time we maybe veered slightly off course, they pulled it back round."
Santer steps down from his role as exec producer at the end of the month when former Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood will officially take the helm.
