Tonight's episode of BBC soap EastEnders has been postponed until tomorrow due to special coverage of a dramatic day in British politics.

The Walford soap had been scheduled to air at 7.30pm as usual this evening, with Masood Ahmed's (Nitin Ganatra) attraction to Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) due to come bubbling to the surface once again.

However, the instalment did not air tonight as BBC One instead ran with a BBC News channel simulcast covering the resignation of Labour's Gordon Brown as prime minister and Conservative leader David Cameron becoming his replacement.

DS can confirm that the episode will transmit tomorrow at 7.30pm, with its BBC Three repeat following at 10pm.

Plans for Holby City, which was also removed from tonight's BBC One schedule, are currently uncertain.
