Later this week, fans will see the actress make her debut in the role of mum-of-one Vanessa Gold, a new love interest for Albert Square's Max Branning (Jake Wood).
Speaking in an interview with DS, Lucker explained that viewers should not expect Vanessa to be EastEnders' answer to superbitch Tanya, who she played between 2002 and 2006.
The 36-year-old said: "Tanya was a very manipulative and calculating person who would have done anything to get what she wanted out of life. Vanessa's a much more hard-working and more relaxed character on certain levels. It's difficult - and I don't want to give anything away - but she needs to keep herself busy for certain reasons.
"Tanya had a child but didn't realise she had a bond until the baby had died, whereas Vanessa's adoring of her daughter - so that's worlds apart. Vanessa's not always on edge like Tanya was, either - she's more much laid back about life in general."
However, Lucker also confessed that Vanessa could compete with Tanya in the fashion stakes.
She commented: "She's very glamorous! Everything she wears is cream and her hair's always immaculate and massive."
