Tamzin Outhwaite has revealed that she would love to see a musical episode of EastEnders.

The actress bowed out of her role as Melanie Owen in 2002 but still has not ruled out a return to Albert Square.

She told the Daily Star that would not view going back as a "bad thing".

"I like the idea of going back sometimes," she said. "But I don’t know how Mel could though. I mean, she doesn't know anyone apart from Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt)!"

The actress, who is currently appearing as judge on Channel 5's Glee-inspired reality show Don't Stop Believing, admitted that she wants the BBC soap to do a musical episode.

"When I was in Hotel Babylon, they promised me they’d do one but it never happened. I think they missed a trick," she said.

"Now Glee is so popular, maybe it will happen. It would be amazing."

"Can you imagine Mel bursting into song in Albert Square with Ian?" she joked.

Outhwaite previously admitted to DS that she has never been asked to return to the show.
