'Enders tops 9m for Denise hostage story

EastEnders was far ahead of Corrie yesterday evening, according to overnight data.

Monday's visit to Albert Square, which saw Lucas hold Denise hostage in a cellar, averaged 9.05m (38.9%). BBC Three's repeat added a further 973k (4.6%).

Coronation Street, meanwhile, pulled in a respectable 8.63m (39%) and 8.78m (37.4%) as Colin Fishwick demanded John Stape give his identity back.

Emmerdale notched up 6.73m (33.8%) for Sam Dingle's unearthing of Mark Wylde's body.

Carl's frustrations in Hollyoaks appealed to 1.18m (6.3%), and a further 473k (2.4%) watched E4's first look.

Neighbours and Doctors had 1.32m (9.7%) and 1.51m (19.1%) respectively, while Home and Away averaged 903k (5.3%). Fiver'sfirst look put in 514k (2.8%).
