The actress told The Mirror that she had been cautious about playing the Corrie legend so soon before she reprised her role as Kat Moon in EastEnders.
"Appearing in a drama about Coronation Street just as I'm about to return to EastEnders has worried me a bit, from the point of view of confusing the viewers," she confessed.
"But I look so different bulked up to play Pat Phoenix from slimmed-down Kat; viewers may not realise it's the same actress playing the two parts.
"Looking very different in EastEnders from how I do in The Road to Coronation Street might do me a favour."
The Road to Coronation Street airs tonight at 9pm on BBC Four, ahead of Wallace's return to Albert Square tomorrow.
