EastEnders star Lindsey Coulson has revealed that she wants her character Carol Jackson to develop more friendships on Albert Square.

In recent days, viewers have seen the troubled mum left devastated following the shock death of her beloved son Billie, who passed away after his booze-fuelled birthday party.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Coulson admitted that she is keen to see Carol strike up bonds with Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and Denise Johnson (Diane Parish) in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Coulson commented: "Wouldn't it be great to see Carol get friendly with Shirley and Denise? I'd love to explore them bonding as older ladies.

"To see women having that depth and intensity would make for some very interesting conversations."

Meanwhile, discussing her current storyline, the actress said: "It's very difficult to play grief, because you can't scream like a banshee and have that go on forever. It's a journey Carol goes on and she makes some terrible decisions."

Carol will continue to lash out at those closest to her as the plot continues in the coming weeks.
