'Enders star suggests David Jason casting

Ricky Norwood has revealed that Sir David Jason would be his ideal choice for the role of Fatboy's dad in EastEnders.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that fans of the BBC soap are to be introduced to the father of Norwood's alter ego within the next few months.

As show bosses are still casting for the character, Norwood named Only Fools and Horses star Jason as a perfect choice while on the red carpet at the National Television Awards last night.

Speaking to PA, he commented: "In an ideal world I'd love David Jason to play my dad. Can you imagine? Del Boy and Fatboy.

"It would be great but, whoever comes in, I'm sure they're going to be great. I'm looking forward to seeing who they cast."

Fatboy's father Ashley will arrive in Walford after facing problems in his personal life, which prompt him to go to stay with his son.

Norwood won the 'Most Popular Newcomer' prize at last night's NTA ceremony.
