'Enders star promises "exciting" plots

EastEnders star Kylie Babbington has said that Jodie and Darren's forthcoming engagement will only be the start of "exciting" times ahead for the couple.

This week's episodes of the BBC soap see Jodie and Darren (Charlie G. Hawkins) split up following an argument, but their short time apart only makes them stronger and Darren ends up popping the question.

As Jodie accepts the proposal, she's visibly thrilled by the idea of tying the knot - but what her mum Vanessa (Zöe Lucker) will make of the development is currently unclear.

Speaking to PA about Jodie and Darren, Babbington commented: "They are getting engaged, but more than that - everyone needs to stay tuned and see what happens. There's exciting stuff."

The actress also said that she has been pleased to see her character find love with Darren, describing the pair as a "really good match".

She continued: "They're from different walks of life and seeing them together is a nice contrast. I think they make a nice couple, definitely."
