Fergison romance gets co-star backing

Cheryl Fergison has revealed that her EastEnders co-star Linda Henry is backing her relationship with Moroccan fiancé Yassine El Jamouni.

The actress, who plays Heather Trott on the Walford soap, started dating El Jamouni after they made contact on a social networking site 12 months ago.

In an interview, Fergison explained that Henry (Shirley Carter) helped to get the romance off the ground by being supportive in its early stages.

Fergison told Woman's Own: "Linda noticed I wasn't myself at work, not eating and losing weight, so I told her I'd met this bloke and I didn't know what to do. Linda said she could tell this was something different and she encouraged me all the way. They have chatted a few times on the webcam."

The star also named Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) as another colleague who has offered advice on her relationship.

She said: "Steve has been supportive too but he's a bit more wary, like a brother would be, and Linda reassures him Yassine's alright."

Fergison and El Jamouni are due to tie the knot later this year.
