The 24-year-old actor, who bowed out of the Walford-based soap last September after joining the cast earlier in the year as Leon Small, told PA that a number of stars from the show had congratulated him on his success in the ice-skating competition.
Attwater explained: "I had a really nice text from Shane Richie telling me everyone was in the Queen Vic and having a drink to toast and congratulate me on winning.
"I keep in touch with everyone but that was a nice thing and it meant a lot."
He added that Cheryl Fergison, who plays Heather Trott, and Linda Henry, who portrays Shirley Carter, both called to say well done following this month's final, when Attwater triumphed over competitors Chloe Madeley and Laura Hamilton.
Attwater also revealed that he would be open to returning to EastEnders in the future.
"I had an amazing time and I loved working there and I loved everyone there and I do miss it and I miss everyone there," he said.
"I've always been a fan and I always will be a fan, and to be part of something that you are a fan of was an absolute privilege."
