The BBC One drama retained its title from last year's ceremony, but lost out to main rival Coronation Street in the 'Best Single Episode' and 'Spectacular Scene Of The Year' category, which celebrated the soap's tram crash and subsequent live 50th anniversary special.
Corrie also took home the prestigious 'Best Exit' trophy for Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth)'s emotional departure, 'Best Dramatic Performance' for Jane Danson (Leanne Barlow) and 'Best Storyline', which went to the revelation of Kevin Webster and Molly Dobbs's affair.
Danny Miller was named 'Best Actor' in Emmerdale's only major win for his portrayal of Aaron Livesy, with EastEnders' Jessie Wallace (Kat Moon) picking up the 'Best Actress' gong.
The 39-year-old also shared the 'Best On-Screen Partnership' trophy with Shane Richie (Alfie Moon), while Hollyoaks favourite Emmett J Scanlan picked up a double of his own after scooping the 'Best Newcomer' and the viewer-voted 'Villain Of The Year' awards for his role as Brendan Brady.
The night also saw late Emmerdale series producer Gavin Blyth posthumously awarded with the 'Special Achievement Award'. The 41-year-old passed away in November following a short illness.
The British Soap Awards will be broadcast on Wednesday, May 18 at 8pm on ITV1.
