Zöe Lucker has revealed that she would love to star in a comedy.

The 37-year-old EastEnders actress, who is about to leave screens as Vanessa Gold in the soap, said that she now looks forward to spending her free time looking for the perfect new television role.

Lucker told New magazine: "I think I'd like to try my hand at some comedy. It's just a case of waiting for the right script to come along. I don't want to jump into anything where I go, 'Yeah, it could be all right.' I want to read it and immediately think, 'I need to do this!'

She admitted that she "didn't know what to do" with herself when she finished on EastEnders, but said that she has cut off the "dead hair" from playing Vanessa into a short bob.

Lucker also said that she has been enjoying "being a housewife".

Lucker also said that she is going to start planning her wedding to film editor James Herbert, with whom she has 3-year-old daughter Lilly.

"One minute we'll be thinking of having a big do, the next it'll be about going to Las Vegas!" she admitted. "We just want to make sure that what we do is exactly the right thing for us and for Lilly."

Although Lucker has said that she will miss EastEnders because it was a "lovely place to work", she revealed that she still gets text messages from co-stars Nina Wadia (Zainab Masood), Marc Elliott (Syed Masood), Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell) and Steve John Shepherd (Michael Moon).
