EastEnders cast members have filmed scenes for the funeral of Pat Evans (Pam St Clement).

Albert Square favourites have been spotted paying their respects to the veteran character as her coffin is pulled to a church in a horse-drawn carriage.

Images obtained by the Daily Mail show that Bianca and Ricky Butcher (Patsy Palmer and Sid Owen), Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Max Branning (Jake Wood) and new character Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) are among the mourners.

Pat's stepdaughter Janine Molloy (Charlie Brooks) and Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton) are noted by the publication as looking particularly distraught in the scenes.

Pat's sons Simon and David Wicks, played by Nick Berry and Michael French respectively, have been tipped to return for her funeral, though neither are present in the photos.

Reports suggest that Pat will die of a heart attack on New Year's Day after announcing during a party that she has terminal cancer.

Sources have described her exit as the most "epic" and "moving" in EastEnders history.

St Clement announced that she would be leaving the role back in July
