Joshua Pascoe has said that his EastEnders character Ben Mitchell was trying to make his father Phil (Steve McFadden) feel vulnerable by stalking him.

Ben was revealed as Phil's stalker in a special hour-long Christmas Day episode of the BBC One soap, and Pascoe appears in a new behind-the-scenes video discussing the twist.

He said: "That's the thing with Ben, he feels vulnerable... so by trying to stalk his dad, he's trying to make him feel vulnerable, trying to make him understand how much pain Phil puts him through.

"It'll be interesting to see if Phil can change his old ways."

Pascoe also admitted that he did not intially realise that Ben would be the stalker, adding: "I went on set and I said to Linda Henry, who plays Shirley, 'Lin, who's the stalker?' She went, 'You, you wally!'"

EastEnders continues today (Boxing Day) at 9pm on BBC One.
