'EastEnders' continues festive lead over Corrie

EastEnders extended its Thursday night lead over Coronation Street in the soap ratings yesterday.

At 7.30pm, 9.27m (38.5%) tuned in as Pat Evans received her dreaded diagnosis, while 906k (4.3%) watched BBC Three's 10pm repeat of the Albert Square serial.

Meanwhile, Sophie and Sian's Corrie wedding was seen by 8.49m (32.7%) at 8.30pm and 218k (0.9%) on ITV1 +1.

Emmerdale's double bill performed reasonably well, with Jai's attempted murder charge at 7pm pulling in 7.44m (32.4%), then Charity's shock admission attracting 7.73m (31.2%) at 8pm (+1: 137k/0.5%).

Elsewhere, Jacqui's confrontation with Mercedes in Hollyoaks captured an audience of 1.21m (5.5%) at 6.30pm. E4's first look grabbed 385k (1.7%) at 7pm.
