Heather Trott's EastEnders exit storyline will see her murdered by troubled teen Ben Mitchell, a tabloid report has claimed today.

Ben, played by Joshua Pascoe, kills Heather after rowing with the mum-of-one at her flat, according to The Sun.

It is thought that Ben's dad Phil (Steve McFadden) later destroys evidence to protect his son. However, Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) apparently becomes suspicious of Phil - believing her partner to be involved in the death of her best friend.

A number of other Albert Square residents will also find themselves under suspicion as Heather's murder sends shockwaves through Walford.

An EastEnders spokesperson commented: "Heather's life will go through various twists and turns over the next couple of months which will place numerous people in the frame."

EastEnders bosses confirmed Heather's exit last September following Cheryl Fergison's four-year stint in the role. Rumours that Heather would be murdered emerged two months later.

While some reports today have suggested that Fergison's departure followed a fall-out with show bosses, EastEnders chiefs have dismissed the claims - confirming that she is merely leaving as her current contract comes to a natural end.
