'EastEnders' Tony Discipline: 'Parents supported my acting'

EastEnders star Tony Discipline has revealed that his parents supported his decision to become an actor.
Discipline, who plays Tyler Moon in the BBC One soap, thought about becoming a professional wrestler like his father and grandfather before settling on the acting profession.

"My dad has always been the type of geezer to get behind you no matter what. Whatever I said I wanted to do he would be behind me 100 per cent without questioning it. He wasn't against it but said, 'if you are going to do it, do it properly, get yourself to class'," he told the Sunday Mail.
"My mum was a bit apprehensive but only because she wanted me to be secure in life, but as soon as she knew I was serious about the acting she was fully behind me as well. I have really supportive parents. When I got the role my mum was over the moon, if you'll excuse the pun.
"I remember coming in after getting the phone call and she was just as happy and excited as I was, jumping up and down. I rang my dad and told him and he got a bit choked up to be honest. My dad is a massive fan of EastEnders. He was made up for me to get a part in it."
He added: "The big thing about EastEnders is when you turn up, everybody makes you feel at home right away.
"You are made to feel welcome but it takes six to eight months for you to feel comfortable with yourself, being with all these big stars, being part of the show, being in the Queen Vic and iconic places like that which you have grown up watching. Now, I feel like it is home."
It was recently announced that Discipline would stand trial for assault in August 2012.
