Former EastEnders star David Essex has confirmed that he would not rule out a future return to the soap.

The actor and singer had a four-month stint as Eddie Moon last year, but is now concentrating on a number of other projects - including his own musical All the Fun of the Fair.

Speaking on Loose Women today (March 9), Essex revealed that he would consider an EastEnders comeback if he could fit the show in.

"I've not closed the door," he explained. "The thing is, I finish All the Fun of the Fair, then I'm doing a film, which is called Gypsy Boy. And then I'm doing an album.

"The two questions that I get asked at the stage door are, 'When are you going back to EastEnders?' and 'Are you going to do a rock tour?' And I am going to do a rock tour - that's November. They're fixing the dates for it now."

Discussing his musical, he said: "All the Fun of the Fair is a great success, thankfully. It's been great. The great thing is that it's a piece of theatre, it's a marquee name. We've done 550 performances - it's a lot."

Eddie left Albert Square in October, heading off to Spain with his son Craig.
