The actress recently filmed her final scenes as Walford's Heather Trott, who meets a tragic end in next week's episodes.
Fergison told This Morning today (March 14) that she has been singing and writing music as a hobby for a number of years.
"I've written songs from since I was a teenager, really," she explained. "I never took music seriously, but then I started to learn how to play instruments - I taught myself.
"I've got a saxophone at home, I've got a drum kit, I play guitar, I play a little bit of piano. I don't read music, I play by ear - this is a hobby that I would quite like to look into a bit more. It's showing people that as an actor you can do other things."
Asked whether she would take part in a reality show, Fergison replied: "I do like them all. I'd go anywhere! I like the jungle, I like watching Big Brother, all of those things."
The 48-year-old also confirmed that she is taking away fond memories of her time portraying the role of Heather.
"It's been amazing to play her, I have to say," she commented. "I've had a great time at EastEnders and it was very sad leaving there, with all of my friends there. It's been a brilliant character to play, and you can't ask for anything as amazing as that."
She added: "It's sad. Heather and Andrew would have been one of the most normal couples on the Square, if Heather had managed to keep breathing! Working with Ricky Grover, who plays Andrew, has been amazing. We connected very quickly."
EastEnders airs Heather's final episode on Monday, March 19 at 8pm on BBC One.
