Michael continues to manipulate Jean (Gillian Wright) for his own financial gain next week, convincing her to invest some of Alfie's savings into the boxing club. In reality, he plans to use the cash to impress fiancée Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) by helping to fund their wedding.
Shepherd has now predicted that there will be fireworks on Albert Square as the story intensifies.
He told All About Soap: "We are building up to something, but I don't know what the pay-off is.
"It'll be a real crescendo and the thing with Jean becomes extremely intense. It's a bubbling cauldron."
Shepherd confessed that Michael isn't worried about the possibility of Janine finding out where his money is coming from.
"He balances the risk he might be thrown out of the relationship against the benefits and decides it's worth the gamble," the actor explained.
Asked whether Michael really loves Janine, he replied: "That's up to the viewers to decide. You never quite know what Michael is doing or why."
