The Albert Square drama pulled in 7.07m (34.0%) at 7.30pm as Carly arrived back to pay a visit to Shirley, only to be left disgusted by her drunken state. Later, BBC Three's repeat screening secured 564k (3.6%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, attracted 5.99m (31.7%) at 7pm and 112k (0.5%) on +1 as Katie set a trap for Robbie. The fallout from her scheme later took 5.62m (25.2%) at 8pm and 262k (1.1%) on timeshift.
After Emmerdale, a new series of The Corrie Years launched on ITV1 with 3.18m (14.2%) at 8.30pm and 191k (0.8%) on +1.
Also airing in the 8pm hour, Waterloo Road's new series continued with 3.64m (16.3%) as depressed Tariq made a suicide attempt.
Hollyoaks managed 339k (1.9%) at 6.30pm and 130k (0.6%) on timeshift on its temporary home of E4, while the usual first look screening claimed 468k (2.5%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 547k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 938k (7.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 700k (4.4%) at 6pm and 354k (2.0%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.27m (20.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
