The Christmas Day death of EastEnders' matriarch Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richard) knocked the Square for six - and none more so than the battleaxe's best friend Dot Branning (June Brown).
But launderette owner Mr Papadopolous looks to have found a replacement.
In our exclusive clip, a stand-in Bulgarian worker gets herself in one almighty lather, leaving Dot hanging out to dry.
An insider told DS: "Dot finally thought she'd have a lighter load on her hands when Pauline's replacement turns up, but she doesn't quite live up to Dot's expectations..."
The scene is to air at the end of the month.
