EastEnders fans see Shirley Carter arrive back in Walford unexpectedly this evening (December 3).

Shirley (Linda Henry) returns to Albert Square after sentences are finally handed out over Heather Trott's murder, with Ben receiving a four-year jail term and Jay being given community service.

As the dust begins to settle following the judge's decision, Sharon Rickman offers some advice to Ben's father Phil, encouraging him to concentrate on the future by making sure everything goes right with baby Lexi's custody case.

However, as Phil and Sharon share a friendly hug in the hallway of the Mitchell house, they suddenly spot that they're not alone as Shirley has let herself in and is watching them. Will Shirley's return cause problems for a shocked Phil?
