'EastEnders' pulls ahead of 'Emmerdale' in soap ratings

EastEnders won the Thursday soap ratings with a good audience last night (December 6), early viewing figures show.

Phil Mitchell's calling off of his fake engagement to Sharon was seen by 7.15 million - a 32.7% share - at 7.30pm and 466,000 (3.1%) watched BBC Three's 10.30pm repeat.

An Emmerdale double bill focusing on Jimmy King attracted 6.84m (32.1%) at 7pm and 6.68m (28.8%) an hour later, the latter part adding 194k on +1.

Emmerdale at 40, an ITV documentary celebrating the history of the rural soap, bowed out with 3.25m (13.8%) at 8.30pm.

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks took 818k (4%) as well as 480k (2.3%) for E4's first look, and Doctors averaged 1.38m (18.4%) earlier in the day.

Elsewhere, the latest instalment of Neighbours appealed to 660k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 911k (5.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away drew 645k (3.4%) and 546k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look.
