POTD: 'EastEnders' Phil proposes to Sharon

EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell tries to win Sharon Rickman's heart with a grand gesture this evening (January 1).

Having vowed to steal Sharon away from Jack Branning, Phil (Steve McFadden) makes the unexpected decision to pop the question when she pays him a visit.

Sharon (Letitia Dean) is stunned by Phil's proposal, but it isn't her first surprise of the day as Jack has also just asked her to marry him.

After baby Lexi's christening has taken place, Sharon makes her decision on which man she sees a long-term future with...

Phil surprises Sharon when he asks her to marry him - this time for real.
