Wing, best known for her role as Walford matriarch Lou Beale, passed away on Sunday at the age of 98.
Speaking this afternoon (July 11), Taylforth shared her memories of the late actress, having worked closely with her in her early years as Kathy Beale on the BBC show.
Taylforth told Digital Spy: "I am so very shocked and saddened by this news, what a lovely lady Anna was. It was so great to have worked with her.
"She used to say to me all the time that I should never forget her, so I always sent her birthday and Christmas cards every year. My thoughts go out to her family as she spoke about them often. She will be sadly missed."
Wing's agent announced the news of her passing earlier today, prompting tributes from EastEnders bosses and her ex-colleagues.
Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale) described Wing as "wonderful, very helpful and giving", while June Brown (Dot Branning) said that she was "a very generous woman in many ways and an excellent actress who made a script her own".
Wing appeared as Lou in 232 episodes of EastEnders between 1985 and 1988.
