Walford stars return for Frank's funeral

EastEnders producers are planning an emotional send-off for Mike Reid's character Frank Butcher.

Old faces Sophie Lawrence and Charlie Brooks, who played Frank's daughters Diane and Janine respectively, are returning for the much-loved character's funeral in a week's worth of special episodes.

Sid Owen, better known as Mike's on-screen son Ricky, and Patsy Palmer, who played Ricky's ex-wife Bianca, have already announced their return.

Reid died at the age of 67 in July after suffering a heart attack at his Spanish home.

It has not yet been revealed how Frank will die, nor is it known when the special episodes will air.

A source told The Sun: "Frank was practically royalty in Walford, and he will be given a proper East End send-off, complete with a horse-drawn carriage.

"Getting so many old faces together again is going to set the cat among the pigeons. Tempers will flare as many of Frank's family have grudges to settle."
