To celebrate the return of EastEnders legend John Altman as the iconic Nick Cotton, BBC Three is to air a special documentary entitled EastEnders: Nick Cotton Returns.
His seven-year absence is rectified on Christmas Day as Walford's original bad boy makes his comeback to the Square, uttering those distinctive words to Dot (June Brown), "Merry Christmas, Ma".
The show will feature behind-the-scenes access to Nick's return episodes, archive footage of classic Nick in action and the usual interviews from cast members past and present.
The hour special will also explore those other legendary Walford character who have made comebacks over the years, including Dirty Den Watts, Sharon Rickman, Frank Butcher, the Mitchell brothers and Janine Butcher.
EastEnders: Nick Cotton Returns is due to air on Tuesday, December 30 at 8pm on BBC Three.

I think it's great that the EastEnders staff have decided to have Nick Cotton back. He was always my favourite character and i just can't wait to see what he'll get up to next.

I hear that Nick turns up at Dot's with a young child. I only hope that fatherhood has changed him.

If there is two people who I could choose to return the most it would be Nick and Grant. Good on the producers for bringing back a true legend.

Sounds very exciting! Its great to have Nick and Janine back! I would absolutely love Sharon Rickman to come back though! She's truly brilliant.

I'm really looking forward to Nick's return to EastEnders. I have met John Altman, who plays him, a few times! I've been wanting him to come back to EastEnders for a while now. I'm glad June Brown suggested that he did! I'm also looking forward to seeing the documentary about him on BBC Three.
