Poll: Who is Whitney's mystery male follower?

Published Saturday, Jul 4 2009, 00:02 BST | By Kris Green | 1 comment
Last week I asked you whether Molly (Vicky Binns) and Kevin's (Michael Le Vell) affair in Coronation Street was priceless sick bucket material.

A whopping 61.5% of those who voted believe Molvin's clandestine affair to be just plain wrong, while 27.5% can't wait to see where the storyline's headed.

Meanwhile, the remaining 11% aren't sure either way at the moment.

As I've mentioned before, I think the potential repercussions of the plot will be fantastic viewing and I can't wait for the scenes when my new Street favourite Sally finds out. It's quite a way off, though.

Add to the mix Kev's dad Bill (Peter Armitage) and Molly's auntie Pam's (Kate Anthony) probable relationship, too, and there's surely some potentially great television, no?

It's a long-burner, though - some 15-18 months apparently. Who think the climax to the story will tie in with Coronation Street's 50th anniversary?

Now on to this week's poll. I've had a hoard of emails over the past few months asking about the mystery man following Whitney (Shona McGarty) in EastEnders.

If you don't know who on Earth I'm talking about, here's a quick reminder:

Little is known about him, other than his name is Ryan and he's played by a relatively unknown actor called Neil McDermott.

He's appeared infrequently in Walford over the last few months, shadowing Whitney and talking to her about nothing in particular. It's a bizarre setup, but it's been done for a reason. Personally, I enjoy it when the storyliners throw in someone or something that you want to know more about. It's frustrating how long you usually have to wait to find out though!

However, the wait over Ryan's identity is nearly over as his true reasons for wandering around Walford with Whitney will be revealed at the end of the month.

Earlier this year, EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer told me: "All I'll say at this point is that he seems to want to talk to Whitney..."

But why?

There are many suggestions flying around the t'interweb as to Ryan's purpose in the show, but what do you think?

I think its fairly obvious its Tony's brother/other relative! The trial will be coming up soon and he will manipulate her to change her evidence. That my opinion...
