Intriguing 'EastEnders' graveside pictures

Published Tuesday, Aug 4 2009, 00:36 BST | By Kris Green | 26 comments
Here are some rather interesting on-location pictures featuring Charlie Slater (Derek Martin) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) visiting a graveyard.

They're sitting in front of Julia Macer's headstone, whoever she is...

My immediate reaction was that it's Joe Macer's (Ray Brooks) late wife's grave, but after a quick search, her name was 'Julie (Jools) Macer'. Apparently not the same person - unless there's been a typo on the official site.

But that still doesn't explain why Masood's (Nitin Ganatra) there...

Hmm.

Answers on a postcard.

I think that Brenda must die, hence Charlie's return to Walford (as he leaves with her to live abroad in the next couple of weeks). Like a previous comment has stated, that could be Brenda's sister's grave (maybe she was married to Joe Macer). Charlie is visiting the grave as maybe Brenda wants to be buried with her sister. Jean is with Charlie for support. I've no idea why Masood is there though.

Charlie's sister no doubt, Masoood has to give him and jean a ride because his cab breaks down.

I think it's Brenda.......

The flower shop Jean works in deliver flowers to the grave every year, and Charlie did drive her when he finds out its Masoods stepmothers grave and its Masoods who are sending flowers. But the plot later on... half siblings to Masood?? And among them we finds the father of Heathers child..

Is Julia Macer Joe's wife who killed Pauline?

I'm sure Brenda dies soon, so perhaps this is her sisters grave and when Brenda dies, her ashes are placed here, or the coffin.

hmm, looks interesting. I wonder what it's about.

EVERYONE PLEASE READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! READ! THIS WAS ON THE BBC EASTENDERS OFFICIAL WEBSITE ON JOE MACERS PAGE WITH NO PICTURE: Julie (Jools) Macer Joe and Jools had a tempestuous marriage, until she died of cancer.

I thought Julia was the name of Charlie's dead wife (Mo's daughter?)
Simon, Lancashire, on August 4th, 2009
I think it's Brenda related. I think Brenda is really called Julia Mercer and Brenda was the one who died, maybe twin sisters? The dates would add up!
Zac, Birmingham, on August 4th, 2009
Well the fact that the death date has the year of 19** makes me think that this will be one of Jean's rants.
Laura, Brigg, on August 4th, 2009
I have absolutely no idea who's gravestone it could be at all.
Chris, Newcastle, on August 4th, 2009
Maybe Brenda related, or perhaps Charlie knocks someone down in his cab?
Kevin, Enfield, on August 4th, 2009
I think Masood was there delivering post
Jo, Derby, on August 4th, 2009
I don't think it's anything exciting. They will probably 'edit' in the name of someone else on the headstone before it goes to air.
Michael, Hampshire, on August 4th, 2009
Julia Macer? Perhaps a relation to Joe Macer AKA Pauline Fowler Murderer! Dum Dum Duuuummmmm!
Kevin, Cambridge, on August 4th, 2009
Obviously someone who died a while ago, maybe Charlie is losing his mind and thinks he's at his wifes grave?
Nichola, Ulverston, on August 4th, 2009
I'm pretty sure the grave reads 'Beloved Wife', and born in 1942 would make Mrs Macer 67 later this month. The character of Joe Macer would be 70 later this year; making the age gap understandable of indeed being Joe's wife. As to why Masood is there, I've no idea!
Peggy, France, on August 4th, 2009
Well the date of death has a 1 at the beginning, so it can't be that recent...a link between brian (jean's husband) and charlie?? she's born in 1942. charlie's born in 1941.
