Poll: How will Peggy Mitchell leave 'EastEnders'?
Published Saturday, Oct 31 2009, 00:02 GMT | By Kris Green | 19 comments
Last week, I asked whether you were happy with EastEnders' 'Who's The Daddy?' reveal and you voted in your droves to let me know what you thought of the BBC soap's latest controversial twist.
Staggeringly, near enough three quarters of those who voted (72.8%) thought that Darren (Charlie G Hawkins) being baby George's father - and Heather's (Cheryl Fergison) first conquest - is ridiculous, while 22.1% said it was a great twist.
The remaining 5.1% couldn't muster the interest to be bothered.
So where does the storyline go from here?
During Monday's episode, we saw Darren break down in Heather's arms at the prospect of being a father at such a young age. This is obviously where the focus of the story is thrown to and as the year draws to a close, it'll be far from plain-sailing for the youth.
Cheryl told me last week: "It won't be too long [before everyone finds out]. Let's just say that as well as Shirley, one other person discovers that Darren's the daddy and that causes quite a lot of problems…"
Who's expecting a festive reveal of the news to the rest of the Square? Paternity seems to be a recurring Christmas theme in Walford...
Onto this week's poll now, in which we turn to Peggy Mitchell's impending exit from the East-End soap next year.

As I'm sure you read on Wednesday, Barbara Windsor's calling time on her role as Peggy Mitchell after 15 years playing The Queen Vic's landlady.
Rumours are already rife as to how she'll leave, but naturally the big bosses are saying nothing!
I'm certainly hoping and praying that there's a Mitchell reunion before she leaves, though.
Earlier this month, Danniella Westbrook - who plays Barbara's screen daughter Sam - told me of her return and a potential comeback: "I didn't ever expect to come back, so it was a really nice surprise to be asked. I was really happy with just the three months to fulfil the storyline and get some closure on it. Then maybe who knows what'll happen next year."
So there's a glimmer of hope there...
Then there's Ross Kemp, who played Grant Mitchell - he'd surely make a return to make Barbara's exit as iconic as possible, wouldn't he? After all, he did take time out of his busy filming schedule earlier this year to present Babs with her 'Special Achievement' trophy at this year's British Soap Awards...
With this in mind - as well as the many other possibilities about her exit - how do you think Peggy will leave the soap?
However she goes, it surely has to be with Julia's Theme...

I agree with Leigh from London, she is dreadful at acting. It's about time 'Peggy' gets written out. The sooner, the better, I say! And the way she's trying to take over The Vic from Roxy?! If I were her, I'd put Peggy in her place!

I think although she'll originally be a suspect in Archie's murder, she will probably have to go through a lot of rubbish, and then decide that too much has happened in Albert Square for her...and off she goes to Grant. I mean Sam left last time after having been 'involved' in the death of Dirty Den so it would be slightly repetitive to do the same to another Mitchell lady!

How ever Barbara Windsor exits EastEnders will be great news for the show. The woman cannot act and is repetative and boring, she has the charisma of a dead eel. Thank goodness she has come to her senses and now realises how bad her "acting" abilities are.

Cant they for once make her exit a happy ending? Life is not all doom and gloom you know. Viewers would surely be happy to see something nice happen to someone from the usual depressing storylines

I think that peggy will be sent to prison for manslaughter because she would've been with Archie when he died.

I'd just like to add that Grant is actually in Portugal. [Sorry about that! Minor oversight... - KG]
