Nina Wadia on 'Who Killed Archie?', Babs and EE25

Published Thursday, Feb 18 2010, 00:02 GMT | By Kris Green | 2 comments
I recently cornered bagged a chat with EastEnders actress Nina Wadia about her upcoming birthing scenes which are due to screen during next week. Click here to read the baby-oriented interview or if you're a Chryed fan have a gander at this page for an in-depth bonus chat about Christian and Syed's clandestine affair.

Here, however, I present a selection of more bonus material from my interview with Nina. Read on to hear her thoughts on the 'Who Killed Archie?' plot, her favourite duff duff and Barbara's departure from the BBC soap.

Do you know who killed Archie?
"I haven't got a clue. There are so many theories flying round - everything from Rob [Kazinsky] coming back."

Who do you want it to be?
"I want it to be Zainab! No, I'm joking (Laughs)."

What's been your favourite EastEnders moment over the years?
"I didn't really know the show prior to [joining]. I wasn't a person who watched soaps unfortunately but there are two that I've loved. I love the reveal with Max and Bradley and Stacey - I thought that was a really good build-up to that and a really good reveal - I thought that was fantastic. I [also] really did enjoy filming the whole wedding stuff. I really, really, really enjoyed it. I'd been looking forward to that for such a long time and I got my best duff duff!"

What's been your favourite duff duff? Or yours and anybody else's…
"Oh boy - I can't remember! I haven't had many - I think I've had four or something. Honestly, I cannot remember. Sometimes I don't like the duff duffs as much as I actually like the episodes. One of my dearest friends Roxanne made me laugh the other day. She came over and said, 'Call my phone, call my phone!' So I rang the phone and when my name came up it went, 'Duff duff duff...' I've never laughed so much!"

It'll be a sad day when Barbara leaves, won't it?
"It absolutely will. That's my first memory of EastEnders - she's completely synonymous with it, you can't separate the two in my head. She will be missed. She's like the real queen of Albert Square. It'll be a bit strange when she's not there."

Do you have a lot to do with her?
"No, I've only had a couple of scenes to do with her. It's so weird because whether you work with everyone on screen or not, you're like a big family there - you really do know everyone. She was very welcoming to me and very nice. I think she will be missed by practically everyone there."
