When Kat sees Norman spending time with Pat at the Queen Vic, she loses her temper and accuses him of leading Jean on.
Norman protests his innocence in the face of Kat's outburst, while Pat also leaps to his defence by making some barbed remarks about the landlady's colourful past.
Not one to take an insult lying down, Kat lashes out at Pat by throwing a drink in her face - much to the delight of Janine, who's watching the heated exchange with great interest.
An EastEnders insider commented: "Kat is very protective of Jean, and jumps to her defence when she sees how devastated she is by Norman's snub. Pat refuses to take this lightly and gives as good as she gets to the feisty landlady.
"Kat is already reeling as Alfie has accused her of cheating on him, and Pat's comments really hurt - leading her to lash out in true Kat style."
These scenes air on Monday, September 5 at 8pm on BBC One.
